Ferry Chasing...

Today after the library we decided to take a ride by the water to see the boats. I realized that it was just about time for the Cross Lake ferry's afternoon departure so we went down to the dock. We asked the security person if we could watch the ferry take off and she said we could from outside the fence. We got to see the last 3 cars/trucks load on and watched them close up the big doors. We also got to see the last few walk on passengers get on the boat too. We stayed and watched it pull away from the dock. Then we hopped back into the car and drove down to the channel. It was fun as we were driving to the channel we could peek between buildings and trees and see that the ferry was keeping up with us in the water. Alison thought it was cool to try to guess if we would make it to the channel in time. We did! We got there just as it was coming into the channel and got to watch it go all the way through. We saw the cars parked in the open end and the double hull and all the people up on top taking pictures. We watched it till it got out into Lake Michigan. I wish I would have had our camera, but I didn't really think we were going to go ferry spotting today. Maybe we'll try to make it back to the ferry dock again to watch all the cars and people unloading.
