First day of Co-op!

We had a good time at our first day of homeschool co-op today!

Alison had an art class and a Michigan class. Her art teacher made them each little fabric bags and took them on a nature walk. She also gave them magnifying glasses and they started to paint flowers. In her Michigan class they talked about the Three Fires (the original three Native American tribes). Plus they talked about the state bird and made tee-pees. She also made a new friend. The were doing a cute pinky, tickle fingers secret handshake thing when they said goodbye and giggling like well little girls, lol.

Ian, well he had a rough morning. Because he had fallen asleep in the car after we went ferry spotting, he stayed up way too late. So this morning he didn't want to get up. He can be quite a bear when he doesn't get enough sleep. Luckily my first hour I was supposed to be supervising study hall and there was only one kid and his mom said he could just hang out and help in her class (the one Alison was in). So I stayed with him for the whole Music and Motion class. For the first part he sat on my lap and just watched. He did start to participate toward the end, but didn't want me to leave. He was supposed to go to story, art and snack time when I went to be the helper in the 4-8th grade art class. But he had other ideas. He didn't want to leave me until he saw the toys in the nursery. So I did a quick check and the mom in charge and the moms in the nursery said he could stay with them. They had huge trucks and he was as happy as a clam. They said that it even encouraged the other kids to play because they saw him having fun. So while it wasn't the day we thought he would have, he did have fun. I'm hoping that next week he'll be in a better mood and more willing to try his classes, but if not, it's good for him to just be with other kids and have fun playing. He's still young and he has plenty of time for classes when he gets older.
